The Napier Sabre engine is the heart of the Hawker Typhoon. The H24-cylinder, liquid-cooled, sleeve-valve, piston aero engine, was designed and built by D. Napier & Son. The engine evolved to become one of the most powerful inline piston aero engines in the world, developing from 2,200 hp in its earlier versions to over 4,500 hp in later models.
