Saturday 3rd October 2020
Time: 18:30 to midnight
Venue: IWM Duxford Airspace Hangar
The RB396 Black Tie Gala is the first event of its kind for the project to support the restoration of the world’s only genuine WWII combat veteran Hawker Typhoon MkIb, RB396.
On arrival guests will be greeted by the unmistakable sound of a Merlin engine with a private Spitfire display from our partners the Aircraft Restoration Company.
Inside the transformed Airspace hangar an unforgettable evening awaits with a champagne reception next to the Lancaster bomber where the trustees will welcome V.I.Ps and guests.
A four course gourmet meal will be presented at dressed tables under the wings of Concorde, while guests enjoy live music and presentations from distinguished guest speakers.
Everyone is then invited to participate in a live auction, where exclusive and prestigious lots will be showcased.
Finally, live music from the Bluebird Belles will serenade everyone on the dance floor before carriages arrive at midnight.
Remember with us the final flight of RB396 75 years ago, the pilots, ground crews and squadrons.
Enjoy great company, making new friends and partnerships in support of the project.
Become immersed in the spectacular surroundings of the Airspace hangar with iconic aviation legends.
Participate in the silent and live auction with an opportunity to bid for exclusive items.
All proceeds raised during the course of the event will directly support the continuing rebuild effort.
COVID update: Please be reassured that we are working closely with the event coordinators at IWM Duxford to ensure we can operate within the strict safety guidelines issued by the Government during the pandemic. If we are presented with the situation where we would need to postpone the event then we would look to hold the event in October 2021 for which your ticket would still be valid or we will offer a full refund.
We are pleased to announce that world renowned figure in aviation, and patron to the project Air Chief Marshal (Ret) Cliff Spink CB, CBE, FCIM, FRAeS, will be joining us as a distinguished guest at our Black Tie Gala.
Also joining us for this evening is project Ambassador and three time Red Bull Air Race champion, Paul Bonhomme. As a pilot for the Aircraft Restoration Company he has a huge amount of experience on vintage aircraft and is Red Bull Air Race’s most successful pilot.
We have partnered with Charity Fundraising Auctions for the event, to bring you a top class auction, some excellent lots and a great experience. They are also supporting us for the event, by providing their equipment free of charge, so that we can maximise the returns for the project.
During the gala you will have the opportunity to participate in two auctions. Throughout the evening the team from Charity Fundraising Auctions will be running a silent auction where you will be able to bid for some fantastic items using the iPads provided on tables. Later in the evening we have lined up a professional auctioneer to conduct a live auction on the main items of the evening.
Some lots already confirmed are:
A signed and framed limited edition print donated by Aces High Gallery.
A special edition 1:24 scale Hawker Typhoon model complete with veteran signatures built by resident master modeller, Richard Spreckley.
